CBSSports.com has a series going on right now where they have polled college basketball coaches from all levels on various different issues. Today they have a piece about the best recruiters in the sport, all resources being equal. Paul Hewitt makes the cut in the others receiving multiple votes section:
In the quotes section of the article I found it interesting to learn that Hewitt would have landed Dwight Howard if he came to college:
On Hewitt: “Look at his resume. Chris Bosh. Jarrett Jack. Thad Young. Dwight Howard if he would have gone to college. Impressive.”
The jury is still out on whether or not Hewitt can recruit at a high level at George Mason. Patrick Holloway and Marko Gujanicic are looking like nice additions and he did convince a former Georgia Tech player to go down a conference level. But can he bring better talent to compete in the Atlantic 10 is the big question.
