Therence Mayimba taking an official visit to George Mason this weekend

Confirmed that 2014 6’7″ Therence Mayimba will taking another visit to George Mason this weekend, this time for an official one. Mayimba had been scheduled to attend Mason Madness as well and this is a very good sign that he is looking to commit to the Patriots.

The staff is very high on the three-star recruit who is extremely athletic and has great physical tools. Rivals.com says George Mason has been on him the hardest with Saint Louis, Rhode Island, Delaware, and Kansas St. also in the mix.

There’s a lot to like about Mayimba, who like recent commit Eric Lockett, would probably have an immediate impact on the defensive end and the boards. Here is ESPN’s scouting report on him:

Here is a highlight video from his junior year at Montrose Christian:

There is a very good chance Mayimba will commit to Paul Hewitt and George Mason during his visit this weekend.

I like the kid but we need to replace our top three scorers with this class, I guess that’s how the last two scholarships would be used

If the noise level is high and the pep rally is entertaining on the 18th this Friday, I think that will just be enough to get ourselves another recruit. But if he does choose Mason, here are my concerns. We would then have four small forwards Okoloji, Jenkins, Lockett, and Therence. We need a good replacement for Bryon Allen and Sherrod Wright. I’m uncertain about Vaughn Gray.
