Lebanon Valley College added to the schedule

For the second time in three years George Mason will have a non-Division I team on the schedule and not as an exhibition game. In 2014 they hosted Division II Catawba at the RAC and yesterday news broke that Lebanon Valley College will be coming to play at Mason November 15th. ┬áThe home opener against Towson is set for November 12. LVC is a Division III school which makes this a bit of a head-scratching move at first glance but given the young roster heading into the season and the need to fill game slots it’s understandable. Also, the last time LVC played a DI school it was against Bucknell and Dave Paulsen has a prior relationship with their head coach:

“The Patriots are currently led by second-year coach Dave Paulsen, a former headman at Bucknell. It was during Paulsen’s time leading the Bison that he came to know McAlester, as well as Terry Conrad, then a colleague and also the father of current LVC rising senior Travis Conrad.

Through these connections and brief scheduling negotiations, the historic date was set.”

Not an exciting home game to look forward to, although I would enjoy seeing another game at the RAC. With few upperclassmen and a lot of freshmen and sophomores it makes sense to get some games like this on the schedule to help the team build and grow before their tough Atlantic 10 slate.
