Three players are transferring out

Three players are transferring out from George Mason, DeAndre Abram, Kameron Murrell, and Danny Dixon. All are sophomores and players brought in during Dave Paulsen’s first season in Fairfax:

We knew this move was coming since word has started to spread of the coaching staff still looking at 2017 recruits. Turnover was expected considering Paulsen had to come in late in the recruiting cycle and bring in¬†guys just to fill the roster. In the end there just wasn’t enough minutes for everyone. These moves allow Mason to hopefully fill some holes in the roster, especially on the wing and in the front court.

I’m sure all three are good guys. I wish them well.
That said, I agree that almost everybody that coach Dave brought in that first year were space fillers. I am pumped about who this might allow us to bring in. I think this speeds up our upward trajectory.

Will they try to fill these spots over the summer? Or will they save a scholarship or two for the next recruiting class? Seems like they don’t need to use all with such a young team.

Seemed weird how this all shook out with Abram, began the year as a starter after starting all last season. Then was banished to the bench to never return. Wondering if he didn’t fit as well after they recruited more offensive guys like Boyd, Newman but who also rebounded and played better defense.
