Wow what a finish. George Mason in-bounded the ball with only five seconds remaining and Otis Livingston II hit a three-pointer from way out to seal the win 81-79. Otis has been playing his best basketball of the season lately and he had 5-of-6 shooting on three-pointers and a game high 25 points in this one. Justin Kier had his first ever double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. This was a nice rebound game from the beating that Davidson gave them last weekend and now they are right in the thick of it in the Atlantic 10 standings at 2-2.

Mason built a small lead at halftime and didn’t turn the ball over much in the first half but late turnovers in the second nearly lost it for them. However they dominated the boards in this one and continue to shoot better as a team from behind the three-point line. Ian Boyd had a great game coming off the bench (15 points) and Greg Calixte continues to make strides in his starter role. This team still has some things to figure out but it was great for a young group like this to get a win like this to build their confidence going forward.

What a great game. They looked solid on both end of the court for much of the game. St Joe’s made a late push and Mason struggled which allowed St Joe’s to take a late lead. They hung tough and got a great win.

Very nice win. We have been pretty resilient this year at the end of close games. A trait some of our recent teams have lacked. We are fortunate that, while we struggle with consistency, the A10 (with a few exceptions) is pretty weak this year.

We all focus on the on-court performance, but the best coaches are the ones who help prepare their players for life. This is a pretty good message for any college student to hear/learn: “What we said was, ‘If you play the game right, it doesn’t guarantee success, but it guarantees you the best chance for success.'”

Is there any talk of updating the video collection of top 50 plays that was put together several years ago? That shot would certainly make the list!
